The Palacio de la Cultura is located in the historical center of the city of Medellín. Belgian architect Agustín Goovaerts was responsible for its design and construction, which took place between 1927 and 1937. The casual passer-by still wonders at its Gothic-styled architecture. The edifice served as seat of Government of the Province of Antioquia for several decades and nowadays is home to the Office of the Director of Culture in Antioquia, the Historical Archives, an audio library, a library, a documentation center, and the Rafael Uribe Uribe art gallery and museum. The building’s dome doubles as projection room and stage for artistic activities. Art exhibits, cinema shows, theater presentations, and artists’ workshops are held year-round.
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Saturdays, 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM
