Atanasio Girardot Sports Complex
Calle 48 No. 73–10
The greatest cultural, sports, and recreational heritage site in the mid-western sector of Medellín, the Atanasio Girardot Sports Complex, is visited by more than 136,000 people among locals and visitors who come to enjoy and take advantage of its free facilities.
The Complex is the most modern Sports Complex in the country as well as the most complete and functional in South America. It brings together 37 different sports disciplines all converging in 20 high-quality venues. The most representative of Antioquia’s sports federations, leagues, and clubs are found here.
Its 80,000 acres, conceived and built to celebrate life, encourage family, social, athlete, and neighborhood encounters, are a hub for urban-sports development and a must-visit sector for tourists.
INDER Medellín’s Mayor’s Office, in its quest to show the complex as a referent for sports and site for national and international events, institutionalized the Guías de Ciudad Viva or Guides for a Living City to promote the site with tours and guided visits aimed at tourists, sports and social organizations, companies, educational institutions, and the general public. Visitors receive information on historical, architectural, and esthetic facts about this important venue.
The tours include visits to the Atanasio Girardot Stadium, the Sports Museum, the Water Complex, the coliseums, and the various other venues for the practice of new sports trends.
